Evanescence, touring in support of its second major release "The Open Door," is on a short break after returning from South Africa. The group has two dates scheduled later this month before plans to tour Europe, beginning in Paris on May 25.
A phone message to the press office at Wind-Up Records in New York seeking comment was not immediately returned.
LeCompt, 34, said he and Gray, 32, plan to pour all their energy into a new band, Machina, managed by Chris Long (Crossfade). Gray wasn't available for comment.
"Machina is an incredible band -- it's rock and roll," LeCompt said.
Evanescence's first major release, "Fallen," featuring the hits "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal," has sold 14 millions copies
worldwide, 6.6 million in the United States. It's one of eight albums in Billboard history to spend at least one year in the top 50. In 2004, the band won Grammys for Best Hard Rock Performance and Best New Artist.
The followup, "Open Door," was released in October, selling nearly 500,000 copies in the United States in its first week and debuting at No. 1 on Billboard. It's sold about four million worldwide.
This is not the first time Evanescence has had personnel problems. In 2003, guitarist and co-founder Ben Moody quit while the band was touring in Europe, replaced by Terry Balasamo from Cold. Last July, bassist Will Boyd quit, replaced by Tim McCord from Revolution Smile. |

Hey everyone,
I've been getting your messages all morning and figured I would give a little personal insight to this situation. Around 3:30 pm yesterday I recieved a call on my cell from Amy. This call wasn't from a friend who appreciated me but from an enemy who was prepared to hurt me and my family. Without any warning or negotiotiations for my future, I was fired for no good reason. We have not always seen eye to eye on everything, but who does? Our common goal was always the same. To make Evanescence the best rock band it could ever be. I have always given blood, sweat and tears to make that happen but apparently that is not enough. I have now become just another of the people fallen by the wayside on the revolving door of her life. It's funny how many of us there are now. I guess it's good for lyrical content, though. Maybe I will be among the blessed to have a song written about me, too. Maybe the song will be "Call Me When You're Broke". Whatever, as of next week my band Machina will be doing major label showcases in New York. There is a big buzz for it and we hope it will go well. I'm not going to sit here and be negative because that is not who I am. What I will say it that I know that many of you think she is some genuis or saviour of some kind. I just want you to know that my family and I will forever remember her as being about as deep as the shallow end of a child's wading pool and her lyrics about as deep as the 2 dimensional surface that they were written on. Singing beautifully for the duration of a record or two can move the spirit of the people listening, but the way you treat those around you who you are supposed to care about speaks volumes more than that and I would hope that some of you are listening. Well, that's it. I hope that sheds some light on the current situation for you. Thank you all for the good years and being the most incredible fans and friends. Maybe I will see you again. I am going to play with my little boy now, peace. |

Sa dus dracului totul.... cred ca cel mai mult de suferit din toate nebunia asta o au fanii... Rocky si cu John isi vor continua proiectul la Machina ....Amy "va face rost" de membrii noi si tot asa... ne va lamuri cu un interviu scurt si gata....
Dar pentru mine si pentru multi altii nu e deajuns doar atat . . . Evanescence cu siguranta ca nu va mai fii ce a fost odata..si cu pasul pe care l-a facut acum nici prea multi fani nu vor mai ramane care sa ii sustina... oricum e destul de trist ce se intampla. Am avut de gand sa fac atat de multe pentru Ev .... dar acum sunt total demoralizat.
Nu va iesii bine pana la capat...
Noi vom astepta incontinuare noutati de la Amy (in întâiul rand) si de la toti cei care stiu despre ce este vorba....
Am stat cateva ore sa citesc toate mesajele de pe evthreads si se pare ca nu se ajungea la nici o concluzie...

"Amy Lee's management emailed me last night to tell me that, in their view, the contract I signed to record, perform and tour with the group says that I'm not allowed to have any free speech in regard to Evanescence," Gray said from his home in Arkansas. "The way they spin it, I'm not even allowed to say I quit the group, I guess. But the news is out there, so, there ya' go. I need to have a lawyer read over all that mess to tell me what, when and how I can tell you all -- the REAL FANS -- what really went down, if I ever can, haha."
In the meantime, there is plenty to report about Rocky that does not involve Evanescence.
Originally formed ten years ago, the newly reinvigorated Soul Embraced (which reunites Gray with Living Sacrifice drummer Lance Garvin) has a wealth of new material. The band is finalizing a new recording agreement to release their next album. New songs conține "Kill This," which is on their MySpace now.
In addition to Soul Embraced, Rocky will continue playing with Machina alongside former Evanescence guitarist John LeCompt. And there are a couple more projects which will be announced soon.

He said at a posting on his blog that he found out he was fired in a phone call from Amy Lee. Evanescence is due to commence a US tour on May 19 in Columbus followed by select dates in Europe and then join Korn's Family Values tour.

Sa speram ca tot raul este spre bine. Daca John si Amy nu se mai intelegeau, nu ar fi putut continua astfel. Nu ar fi facut bine formatiei (la fel a fost cand Ben a plecat). Iar Amy nu este egoista, nu-i pasa doar de ea, cum am citit in unele posturi de pe evthreads. Daca ii pasa doar de ea, nu isi concedia chitaristul cu doua saptamani inainte de urmatorul concert si de marele Family Values. Trebuie sa aiba un pretext bun...

dezamagit ca se pierd doi membri vechi ai formatiei, ma consolez cu gandul ca daca inca mai e Amy in formatie, inca nu e totul pierdut. ce ma bulverseaza pe mine sunt comentariile de genul "EV sucks" sau "EV = joke". mi se pare incerdibil sa te exprimi astfel dupe ce ai facut parte din Ev timp de 5 ani!! adica oricat de tare sa zicem ca as fi jignit de ceva, sa spun asa ceva ar insemna nu sa intorc jignirea or something, dar sa-mi jignesc trecutul si "obiectul" in care am varat pasiune atata timp.
evident, restul de comentarii mi se par useless; faptul e consumat si nu trebuie decat sa asteptam noi membri ai formatiei, sa speram ca pe masura celor vechi

Adevarat ... nu i-a jignit  ... nici nu a facut referire la acuzatiile lor ... nu le-a negat ... nu le-a afirmat .... adica sa abtinut ... adica tot e ceva la mijloc. A bagat numa faze cu bla bla bla ani frumosi petrecuti ca trupa o sa ne lipseasca mult dar totul merge mai departe avem drumuri diferite bla bla bla ca la faza cu ben . a NU se intelege ca am ceva cu Amy .... dar.... nu ne-a lamurit cu nimic.
A si de faza cu Ben ... la faza cu Ben  ii dau 100% dreptate lui Amy, Ben a fost nesimtit ... si am inteles ca or fost si ceva abuzuri nu ma bag in amanunte ... plus ca se si droga ... dintre unu treaz si unu beat(drogat) crede-l pe ala treaz . Iar acum la faza cu Rocky & John ... inclin sa cred ca ei au dreptate... mai ales ca amy sa abtinut de la ori ce declaratie pe tema acuzatiilor lor . im really upset to because everyone keeps posting bulletins dissing my sister. when they dont even now the real story i just wish i could tell them what really happened but i'm not allowed and it's not my business to tell. the info will soon be released by amy or other former- members of the band. All i can tell you guys is dont believe any of the info you hear unless its posted on an official site.or they have proof it is real john's blog was what really made me upset saying my sister is shallow and there was no good reason why she fired him. when in fact thewhole evanescence situation that they were in was very unhappy and john even told her he wanted to leave she basically saved him from an extremely unhappy tour. im very happy though that at least some of you are going to stick by the lee family i love the lecompts as well and i wish them the best of luck in all they do. i just wish there were more fans like you who will love && give there loyalty to the lee's, lecompt's, and gray's instead of making up there own opinion to a story that is still untold to the public. all i know is evanescence will stay ROCKING with or without john and rocky ( unfortunatley) my sister wants me to tell all of you thanks for the support and patience all of you have had while waiting for the info to be released it's coming soon i swear!

things are never perfect; we all have learned a lot in the last many years. and while i haven't been around for all of it, i know everyone involved along the way enough to know that you should not be pointing your blame at amy. that's ridiculous. she is a beautiful person and an innovative artist. you can choose to disagree with me if you want, but you're probably ill-informed and my picture's at the top of the page Wink |

Robbie said that though he hasn’t spoken to his brother since John was fired, the news came as no surprise to him. “I can’t say if [Lee] is a good person or a bad person, but I can say: I saw it coming,” Robbie said, recounting his brother’s tales of a “standoffish” Lee, who insisted on a personal bus while on tour and picked fights backstage. “She was very hard to get along with to start with,” Robbie said. “He is a writer and she’s a writer and when you’ve got two writers you’ve got one too many.”
“He’s on the road with this girl and she’s making millions and millions of dollars and he’s on a strict salary,” Robbie LeCompt said. “If she’s found someone who can fill his shoes, then that’s all good, but I’ve studied music for 20 years and anytime [a lead singer] has blown off all the other members and tried to keep going, it didn’t work out.” |
